I Hope

They say that when you die, your brain remains active for 7 minutes. Gamma waves. Retrieving and replaying your most significant memories.

I hope that’s true.

I hope you saw me and the kids. I hope you got to see them both being born again, their first foot steps, too.

I hope you stood on the beach in Mexico with me, hand in hand, just like last time.

I hope you felt the brotherhood of your best friends one last time.

I hope you relived your first hole in one.

I hope you got to see your last home run.

I hope you got to stand on that mountain peak of the Blue Ridge Parkway again.

I hope you felt so much unconditional love and peace.

I hope you got to hug your mom as a little kid again, feel that comfort.

I hope you felt me lying on your chest.

I hope you kissed me.

I hope you felt all of the wonderful things you had ever done or experienced.

I hope, I hope, I hope.
